Will I receive a tax receipt?

There are a number of tax rebates available for donations of various sizes. See the City of Toronto’s guide to election contribution rebates for details. Or, you can hover over a dollar amount listed below to see the rebate amount you can expect for a total contribution of that amount. Note that total contributions under $25 are not eligible for a tax rebate and the maximum rebate payable to any one contributor is $1,000.

$25 (You can expect a tax rebate of $18.75).

$75 (You can expect a tax rebate of $56.25).

$100 (You can expect a tax rebate of $75).

$300 (You can expect a tax rebate of $225).

$500 (You can expect a tax rebate of $325).

$750 (You can expect a tax rebate of $450).

How much can I donate?

Donations to any one candidate may not exceed $1,200; this amount is cumulative, such that if a contributor makes more than one campaign contribution (e.g. money, goods, and/or ticket purchase for a fundraising event), the total value of all the contributions cannot exceed $1,200.

The maximum total amount that a contributor can give to more than one candidate in the same jurisdiction (i.e. running for the same council or the same school board) is $5,000.
